Privacy
Ario is built to be private by default. The whole product is designed around one rule: your screen, voice, keystrokes and gestures never leave your local network.
What we don't collect
- No account. There is nothing to sign up for.
- No telemetry. Ario does not phone home with usage data, crash logs, or analytics events.
- No cloud relay. Connections between your iPhone or iPad and your Mac never traverse a third-party server.
- No screen recording. The Mac companion streams the screen in real time to your local device only; nothing is written to disk by Ario.
- No voice recordings. Audio is transcribed locally by the engine you choose and discarded immediately after the text is produced.
Local network communication
Both apps communicate over your Local Area Network using mDNS / Bonjour for discovery and an authenticated, encrypted local channel for the screen stream and input events. Connections are point-to-point; there is no Ario-operated infrastructure involved.
Voice transcription
You choose which engine handles speech-to-text — Whisper Large, Whisper Turbo, Parakeet, GigaAM, or Apple's built-in dictation. All listed engines run on-device. Apple's engine may rely on Apple's own platform-level processing as governed by Apple's privacy policy. Ario does not send audio to any service operated by us.
App Store
Purchases are handled by Apple. Apple may collect information related to the transaction in accordance with its own privacy policy. We receive only the aggregate purchase data Apple provides to developers; we do not receive your name, email, or payment details.
Crash diagnostics
If you opt in to share diagnostics with the developer through Apple's standard system prompt, anonymized crash reports may reach us through Apple. This is opt-in and can be revoked at any time in Settings.
Children
Ario is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date. Material changes will be announced in-app on the next launch.
